Filmmakers: Charlotte Gerson and Howard Strauss Film: The Beautiful Truth
Garrett is a 15-year old boy living in the Alaskan wilderness with a menagerie of orphaned animals. Growing up close with nature has given him a deep understanding of nutritional needs required by diet sensitive animals on the reserve. Unfortunately, the untimely and tragic death of his mother propelled him into a downward spiral and he risked flunking out of school. This led to his father’s decision to home-school Garrett.
His first assignment was to study a controversial book written by Dr. Max Gerson.
Written over 50 years ago, Dr. Gerson found that diet could, and did, cure cancer. Controversial
at the time (and even today), Garrett took on the challenge of researching this amazing therapy, which drew the interest of his neighbors in the small Alaskan community. With the help of Dr. Gerson’s daughter, Charlotte Gerson, and grandson, Howard Strauss, they gave him the ammunition needed to go in search for the truth – a truth that would affect not only him, but his entire Alaskan village – all of whom wanted to know if these claims were true. After a number of cancer patients, who were diagnosed as terminal, shared their stories and their medical records with Garrett, it became abundantly clear that, contrary to the disinformation campaign spear-headed by the multi-billion dollar medical and pharmaceutical industry, a cure for virtually all cancers and chronic diseases does exist – and has existed for over 80 years!

Christina Pirello, US
Christina Pirello is one of America's preeminent authorities on natural and whole foods, and her radiant personality only serves to make her message more powerful. She has made it her purpose in life to show Americans that they can look their best , and feel great too, by learning to eat natural, organic food.Christina holds a faculty position At Drexel University, where she lectures as a professor of culinary arts. She also serves on the board of The Farm Market Trust, and is a member of IACP (International Association of Culinary Professionals) and Women Chefs and Restaurateurs.
I have been practicing a healthy lifestyle for many years. Previously, I spent five wonderful years working & living in a natural health institute, the Polarity Alive Institute. There we incorporated raw living foods, wheatgrass, and a natural regimen in our program.
Back in the early 90's, I was one of the founding members of Canada Earthsave. These experiences have all bought me to this point, a place I never would have imagined entering. That is when I started my Raw journey in September 2002.
Living raw just makes so much sense. Since its beginning, l have been a Director of RawBC. It is so encouraging to see the definite positive momentum that has been created over the last year. Eight feature events, numerous new members, and the increasingly busy RawBC Forum, are a few of the milestones for 2008. I have really appreciated the openness and energy of the raw community as well as their support. It has been such an inspiration. This is a very exciting time, as the raw community ripens in its growth, to expand beyond itself, offering knowledge and understanding, to the numerous people looking for a healthier and more alive lifestyle throughout BC. There is much to offer. Potlucks, the RawBC website, talks, support groups, and other means of bringing the information and encouragement out into the community.
My intention and motivation is to continue to be an active part of this process. I appreciate the inspiration, support and aliveness that I have received from the many raw adherents that I have come to know in the Raw Family. May we share our energy and vitality. Clive Langton (778) 737-8852
Filmmaker: Cori Brackett Film: Sweet Misery and Relief
ABOUT CORI BRACKETT
As President of Sweet Remedy Films: Embracing Community toward an Authentic Life, Cori's work is geared toward empowering individuals to make intelligent and healthy choices for themselves and their loved ones. She is passionate about helping society return to a focus on fulfilling a need rather than the current corporate structure which has become about creating a need. Her two documentaries are Sweet Misery and Sweet Remedy, and she has a multi-media memoir called Through the Shadows. All are available in our catalog.
CORI'S OWN ROAD TO ENLIGHTENMENT
Cori Brackett loves life and celebrates every moment. She understands the expansive power of love and is devoted to helping individuals empower themselves through knowledge, wisdom and personal choice. Discovering the ability to listen to one's own body as well as gaining access to individual intuition, is what she believes, ultimately, can create amazing healing effects within the body and the spirit.
After having been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2002, Cori Brackett found herself falling into a deep pit of doctor's appointments and medications, while continuing to get worse. Eventually, she found herself in a wheelchair with double vision and slurred speech. Slowly, she learned to maintain the balancing act between pushing herself to get better and having the patience to accept her then-current limitations. Hungry for knowledge and a clue to her symptoms, she stumbled upon some information linking aspartame to ms-like symptoms. As she had been a fairly heavy consumer of aspartame and aspartame-containing products (an average of a six-pack/day of diet soda for twenty years) she thought there might be something to this and proceeded to investigate. What resulted from her investigation was the seering and heart-stopping documentary, Sweet Misery: A Poisoned World, its sequel, Sweet Remedy: The World Reacts and her multi-media memoir, Through the Shadows. Today, she lives a happy, healthy and authentic life and enjoys speaking to groups around the country and sharing guests with you who can help you envision a better world as well as providing the tools you need to discover that better life.

We are pleased to announce that in addition to attending the Sunday night's Gala Awards Dinner and Ceremony to accept this award, Deborah Koons Garcia will head the list as one of Sunday night's keynote speakers.

Dherbs main goal and function is to enlighten and properly educate people to the importance of human health and nutrition. We at Dherbs want everyone to know that in spite of what you may have heard about incurable diseases, in our opinion, there are no diseases on earth that cannot be cured. There is but one disease - toxicity!
People have been miseducated about the true origins and causes of disease, and therefore have been enslaved at the hands of the medical system and industrial complex. Now is the time, to heal the body wholistically and naturally. This is our approach and we utilize it with fervent passion and faith.
Most diseases that Americans are confronted with are degenerative in nature, meaning the causes of most debilitating and chronic diseases are diet and lifestyle related. Yes, what you eat (and what’s eating you inside) is harming you and killing you.
The Western American diet is too high in meat, dairy, starches, sugar, salt, refined grains (too high in gluten that converts to glue in your stomach), preservatives, artificial colors (that deceive your eyes), additives and flavor enhancers (that deceive and corrupt your taste buds), and a host of other insalubrious substances that are greatly sabotaging our health. Thereby shortening the life longevity of Americans. This is very sad but very true!
Seventy-five (75) percent of our work is with women or females. To heal this nation we must first heal the women. The health of a family is in the hands of the woman (mother/wife). If she is unhealthy, then so is and will be her family. She, the woman, cannot do better until she knows better.
Dherbs offers a host of valuable information and wisdom and all-natural herbal products that if taken and applied consistently, will help jumpstart the health revolution that so many people desperately need and have been waiting for.
The intention behind this show is to expose a definitive way for breaking our chains to all our addictions and delve deeply into the healing power of Fasting with some of the leading authorities on this very overlooked and under utilized tool for transformation . This includes an amazing medical doctor in South Africa by the name of Dr Andre Kruger.
There is a full one hour interview with Dr Kruger and Dorit.
You will be treated to a very expansive body of knowledge from medical doctors who have used fasting to heal themselves and their patients when other tools have not worked, to those who have witnessed the power of fasting in their supervised retreat centres dedicated to this deeply healing modality. All aspects of fasting are examined here.

Howard F. Lyman (born on September 17, 1938, in Great Falls, Montana) - American farmer and animal welfare activist who is known for his actions promoting vegetarian nutrition and organic farming.
He was raised as a fourth generation rancher on a farm that produced dairy and meat commodities. He attended Montana State University and graduated in 1961 with a B.S. degree in general agriculture. Upon graduation he spent two years in the United States Army before returning to work on the farm.
From 1963 to 1983 he was actively engaged in animal and grain production. The areas in which he was involved were dairy, pork, registered Hereford, chicken, range cattle, feedlot beef production, veal, grain, silage, and hay production.
In 1979 Lyman was diagnosed with a tumor in his spine. Faced with the prospect of paralysis, he vowed to return to non-chemical means of farming if he beat the cancer. He survived an operation to remove the tumor and set out to transform his land into an organic farm.
This attempt to fly in the face of the chemical-based farming establishment led him to take a try at political office but he lost his first contest. He became a lobbyist instead and moved to Washington, D.C.
Circa 1990, again facing health concerns, he became a vegetarian and found his health improving. In 1989 Lyman began to investigate Mad Cow disease, which was just becoming an issue in Great Britain.
It was not until April 1996 that Lyman became well known. In an appearance on Oprah Winfrey's talk show, Lyman made remarks which in turn led to Oprah renouncing hamburgers. The National Cattleman's Beef Association sued Lyman and Winfrey. Both were found not guilty of any wrongdoing early in 1998.
Lyman eventually became a vegan. He has co-authored the book "Mad Cowboy" as well as "No More Bull" and became president of "EarthSave". Leaving that post, he became president of "Voice for a Viable Future".
Lyman also features in Franny Armstrong's 2005 documentary "McLibel".
He has a free electronic newsletter (details at his website) and has produced four DVDs ("A Mad Cowboy Lecture," "Earth Talk: 2001," "Mad Cowboy: The Documentary," and "A Mad Cowboy Lecture: 2007").
Ethical vegetarian and fourth generation cattle rancher turned vegan for his leadership in the animal rights movement, he was awarded the Peace Abbey Courage of Conscience Award in Sherborn, MA on April 12, 1997.
Howard Straus is the grandson of Dr. Max Gerson and the son of Charlotte Gerson. After his MIT education in physics, he pursued a career in computer systems analysis for nearly 40 years. Late in life, he discovered his passion for helping people recover from “incurable” diseases using the famous Gerson Therapy developed by his grandfather and continued by his mother.
Although Dr. Gerson was called “the most eminent genius in medical history” by Nobel Laureate Albert Schweitzer, no thorough biography of Gerson existed forty years after his death. Howard Straus took up the task in 2002 by publishing Dr. Max Gerson: Healing the Hopeless, which has received excellent reviews in the Journal of Orthomolecular Medicine and The Townsend Letter for Doctors and Patients.
Howard Straus contributes to the Journal of Orthomolecular Medicine and Way of the Heart, and is writing a second book, Power Nutrition, from which the Way of the Heart articles are extracted. He also authors an informative and twice-weekly e-bulletin called Be Well! in addition to pursuing his career as a nutritional consultant and international lecturer on the Gerson Therapy.
He founded the nonprofit organization, Cancer Research Wellness Network, which is dedicated to educating people about cancer therapies that work. Mr. Straus’ Power Nutrition workshops have been very well-received, and have helped thousands to radically improve the quality of their lives.

Jinjee When it comes to knowing what foods to put into our bodies, perhaps our inner knowing is farther along than science. I believe we all know in our hearts that there is a right way to eat, and that the foods that the forces of nature put here on this earth are good, in their natural uncooked form that they were put here in, and that everything else is suspect. People just don't believe that it is POSSIBLE to eat an all-natural diet in today's society. But it is!!! And once you grab hold of that "golden ring" , as I have come to think of "good health", it becomes the easiest thing in the world. The raw-vegan diet is the only diet I have ever been able to stick to, - and I've tried everything from "Aroma-trim" to "The Zone". With this diet, I went off it one time and tried to get back on it for two years. I had had a major lifestyle shift, moving into a different climate, and didn't think it was possible to maintain a raw diet in Canada. So I went "off the wagon". But fairly soon I knew I had to get back on it as soon as possible. And I promised myself that next time I got hold of the golden ring, I would NEVER let go!

"Using live & dry blood analysis we are able to look inside to see what's really going on and what's necessary to bring the body back into balance. No other tool could be so helpful, inspirational and powerful - to bring us visually present to the impact that our emotions, environment and dietary choices have on our cells and ourselves. As Dr. Young has said, 'The blood never lies.' Its honest expression will always correlate to our internal state of health. Having mastered an understanding of what it takes to build healthy blood, a healthy body is an inevitable result of following the protocol of The pH Miracle."

It is well understood that there are radical health differences between plants and animals found
in the sea and those on land. In the ocean, life thrives on a precisely balanced diet of inorganic nutrients while our landlocked environment has been increasingly unable to provide plants and animals with the full compliment of minerals necessary for health and longevity.
Perhaps the most disturbing aspect of this mining analogy is that farmers, through conventional fertilizer strategies, often only replace three to six of the total number of elements removed from
the soil. The failure to understand the importance of all elements and their role in providing complete, balanced nutrition to plants and animals has resulted in an abundance of food that is great in bulk but low in vitality.
Ocean water holds the perfect balance of nutrients essential for sustaining life. Listen to this interview for more answers.

Richard H. Schwartz, Ph.D, (April 10, 1934— ) is Professor Emeritus, Mathematics, College of Staten Island; President of the Jewish Vegetarians of North America (JVNA); and co-founder and coordinator of the Society of Ethical and Religious Vegetarians (SERV). He is best known as a vegetarian activist and advocate for animal rights in the United States and Israel. His writings inspired the 2007 documentary film, A Sacred Duty: Applying Jewish Values to Heal the World, directed by Lionel Friedberg.
Schwartz was born in Arverne, New York. As a youth, he was not a vegetarian. He describes his upbringing as being a "meat and potatoes person" whose favorite dish was pot roast. In 1975 he began teaching a course called "Mathematics and the Environment" at the College of Staten Island. The course used basic mathematical concepts and problems to explore current critical issues, such as pollution, resource scarcities, hunger, energy, and the arms race. He writes:
While reviewing material related to world hunger, I became aware of the tremendous waste of grain associated with the production of beef... In spite of my own eating habits, I often led class discussions on the possibility of reducing meat consumption as a way of helping hungry people. After several semesters of this, I took my own advice and gave up eating red meat, while continuing to eat chicken and fish... I then began to read about the many health benefits of vegetarianism and about the horrible conditions for animals raised on factory farms. I was increasingly attracted to vegetarianism, and on January 1, 1978, I decided to join the International Jewish Vegetarian Society... I decided to become a full practicing vegetarian, and since then have avoided eating any meat, fowl, or fish.
As an Orthodox Jew, Schwartz began to explore what Judaism had to say about diet, ecology, and the proper treatment of animals. The result was his best-known book, Judaism and Vegetarianism, the first work published in English on this topic. It explores vegetarianism from the standpoint of biblical, Talmudic, and rabbinical references, and concludes that vegetarianism is the highest form of kosher and the best diet for Jews in the modern world. The second edition, revised and much expanded, was a B'nai Brith Book Club Selection that same year.
Since then, Schwartz has been active in a variety of vegetarian and animal rights organizations. His unique contribution has been to increase public awareness about Jewish teachings concerning vegetarianism and the ethical treatment of animals. On July 3, 2005, Schwartz was inducted into the Vegetarian Hall of Fame by the North American Vegetarian Society (NAVS). The ceremony was held at the 31st Annual NAVS Summerfest on the University of Pittsburgh campus. Dr. Schwartz also spoke at the Summerfest on "Judaism and Vegetarianism" and "Ten Approaches to Obtain a Vegetarian-Consciousness by 2010."
Schwartz also reaches out to vegetarians from other religions, and his writings helped inspire the formation of the Christian Vegetarian Association, and their original campaign and literature, namely "What Would Jesus Eat...Today?" This campaign has more recently evolved into the broader "Honoring God's Creation" campaign and has strongly influenced the Christian vegetarian movement.

TORONTO, Ontario (September 26, 2007) – Ruth’s Hemp Foods pioneered the use of hemp in food in North America and introduced conscious consumers to this nutrient packed, super seed.
Ruth Shamai is one of Canada’s foremost experts in industrial hemp, and a sought-after speaker on the subject, who started working with hemp in the early 1990s.
In Ruth’s words, “Hemp is a plant that can have tremendous benefits for our farmers, our environment, our economy – and our personal health.” Adding, “The versatility of hemp makes it ideal for a wide range of products: from food to clothing to building materials, from car parts and carpets to kitty litter. When I first realized the remarkable significance of hemp, it wasn’t legal to grow it yet in Canada, but we’ve made great progress since then.”
Ruth was active in the lobby of environmentalists, agriculture experts and entrepreneurs that helped legalize industrial hemp in Canada. In 1998, she and her colleagues succeeded in legalizing hemp for commercial growth in Canada, thereby making the benefits of hemp available to North American consumers. Ruth, originally a technical writer and software trainer, then leveraged her natural curiosity, patience and perseverance in launching hemp as a new category in the natural foods industry.
As Ruth points out, “I’ve always been interested in healthy foods. When my research identified the significant nutritional benefits of the hemp seed, I knew I’d found my calling!”
In 1999, Ruth launched Ruth’s Hemp Foods, Inc. Based in Toronto, Ontario, her goal was to develop a wide range of reasonably priced, GMO-free, plant-based foods that would have the added benefits of hemp’s essential fatty acids and high quality protein.
Today, Ruth’s Hemp Foods manufactures hemp-based Protein Powders, Hemp Bars, Hemp Salad Dressings, Hemp Oil, SoftHemp™ (certified organic shelled hemp seed), and other hemp food products. These products are distributed throughout various retail channels throughout Canada and the United States.
Although passionate about hemp, Ruth likes to avoid the hype associated with the crop, saying, “Just being the serious, practical-minded person that I am has its own rewards. I want to spread awareness of hemp nutrition that is based on sound research. My company’s mission is to develop delicious foods that contain a maximum amount of hemp while remaining at a competitive price point, so that hemp becomes regular and healthy part of peoples’ diets.”

Sproutman Steve Meyerowitz is one of the world's leading proponents of sprouting, juicing, fasting, wheatgrass, indoor gardening, raw foods, and pure water. He was christened "Sproutman" in the 1970's because of his passion for sprouts and indoor gardening and the nutritious, organic foods they provide.
Steve got interested in natural foods after a 20 year effort to correct chronic allergies and asthma with conventional medicine. He made dramatic changes in his diet and within two months of eating a strict "living foods," vegetarian diet, his lifelong symptoms vanished. He continued to practice a 100% raw foods diet (nothing cooked, packaged, canned, frozen, or processed) for five years. During that time, he also experimented with
other extreme diets such as fruitarianism (just fruit), juice fasting for as long as 100 days, and briefly, breatharianism (no food, no water).
Steve shares with us his rich and life-giving information about wheatgrass.
