About The Show

 Youth of the Nation:

“One generation plants the seeds so the next can enjoy the shade.” –Chinese Proverb

Youth of the Nation is a radio show addressing issues that affect us locally and globally. The bombardment

of media in America today has left citizens, especially the youth, searching for answers. There are so many media outlets with so many different opinions it can take hours to sift through the rhetoric. This fact has cheapened the quality of important information that directly affects our lives, the lives of others, our environment, and our planet.

The future of our world is dependent on which direction the youth take us. Generation “Y” has a unique opportunity to turn the tide and create the peaceful and healthy world we all want to live in. We

understand the power of our actions and the power of the conscious collective. This is the outlet to help inform and positively guide the youth of the nation.

Addressing issues like: The economy (college, jobs), health (diet and exercise), drug use/abuse,war (Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, Middle-East, Africa), education, sustainability, human rights, and the environment. The show will also highlight individuals and organizations that are doing effective philanthropic work in our communities.

Fact: There are over 1.6 million homeless youth in America right now.

What do we think of when we think of homelessness? Typically we assume they are alcoholics, drug addicts, and think that people living on the streets “want to be there.” I am sure that we haven't thought of the fact that American kids are living on the streets and struggling for survival.
I have been volunteering with homeless youth for about 6 months with an organization called StandUp For Kids. I live in Orange County and many people unaware that there are over 22,000 homeless kids living in Orange County alone; a very different view from what the media depicts on shows like The OC and Laguna Beach.
During my volunteering I have connected with a kid named Eric who I have been personally working with since I started. In this show, I talk to him about his experience being homeless.
