| Jan Engels-Smith is a Shamanic Practitioner, Shamanic teacher, Reiki master in both Usui and Karuna Reiki, a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Chemical Dependency Specialist, a Hypnotherapist, and a Marriage and Family Counselor. Jan is also a water pourer and pipe carrier in Native American standards. She is an ordained minister. Jan has trained with the Foundation of Shamanic Studies (a graduate of the 3 yr training program), Sandra Ingerman and also with many individual shamans and medicine people. Jan has performed over twenty-five hundred soul retrievals and has been in teaching and education since 1976. Jan’s personal philosophy is to assist individuals in gaining their own personal empowerment, which in turn, promotes self-healing, better communities and a healthier world. Jan conducts workshops teaching people about shamanism and how to journey for themselves. She has written a book, Becoming Yourself: The Journey From Head to Heart, and produced two CD’s: Take Your Body with You, (drumming CD) and Awaken Unburden Create (guided meditations for self healing and empowerment) . Jan also conducts individual and group healing seminars for intensive personal growth. Her training and experiences have been extensive both in the traditional philosophies and metaphysical traditions. Jan Engels-Smith founded the LightSong School of Shamanic Studies is dedicated to the cultivation of thriving interweaving communities of well beings through the exploration and practice of 21st century shamanism and energy medicine.
